Buffalo Man Dies, 5 Others Injured in Sunday Morning Traffic Crash
A local man died and five other persons were injured when 2 vehicles collided Sunday morning in Wright County. Wright County Sheriff Gary Miller says the crash happened just before 8 AM at the intersection of County Roads 9 and 107 in Marysville Township. Authorities say the Ford Bronco that was eastbound on County Road 107 apparently ran a stop sign at the intersection with County Road 9, and collided with a southbound van. Both vehicles went into the southeast ditch where the Bronco became engulfed in flames. Dead at the scene of the crash was 27-year-old David Joyce of Buffalo, whom authorities say was a passenger in the Bronco. The other occupants of the Bronco, 20-year-old Matthew Johnson of Cokato, 21-year-old Candice Davids of Buffalo, 20-year-old Jacob Vogelpohl of Dassel, and 24-year-old Matt Fadden of Buffalo were all taken by ambulance to Buffalo Hospital, and were later transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. The driver of the van, 54-year-old Michael Gilmer of Waverly, and his wife, 51-year-old Sheila Gilmer of Waverly were also taken by ambulance to Buffalo Hospital. Mike Gilmer was treated and released for minor injuries. Sheila Gilmer was transferred to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
