Maple Lake Woman Dies in Single Vehicle Crash Tuesday
A Maple Lake woman was killed Tuesday evening in a single vehicle rollover accident in Wright County. Sheriff Gary Miller says 37-year-old Tamera Lagerski was eastbound on County Road 37 just east of Bishop Avenue in Maple Lake Township around 8 o'clock Tuesday evening when her SUV went out of control on a curve, went into the ditch and hit a road approach. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle reportedly went airborne, then rolled over several times. Authorities say Lagerski was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the vehicle. She was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis where she died a short time later. |

More Roadwork, More Slowdowns
Roadwork continues in many areas of Wright County as the summer presses on. Work on Highway 55 through Buffalo is progressing, with more preparations for the eventual continuous 4-lane configuration through the community. Officials say that work areas change daily, and drivers need to be sure to slow down and watch carefully for lane changes and construction workers in the work zone. Work is also beginning today on I-94 near Clearwater where new three-cable median barriers are being installed. The barriers are designed to prevent cross-median collisions, and are similar to those installed in the Rogers - Maple Grove corridor earlier this year. |

Roadwork On I-94 to Continue
Motorists on portions of I-94 in Wright County should prepare for some slowdowns for the next two weeks. A three-cable median barrier will be installed along a stretch of the freeway at the Highway 24 interchange in Clearwater. The barrier will be similar to those installed in the Rogers and Maple Grove corridor earlier this year. The barriers are designed to improve safety and to prevent vehicles from crossing the median and colliding with on-coming traffic. The increasing frequency of these crashes has prompted Mn/Dot to install the barriers. Next week, a micro surfacing pavement preservation project again in the Clearwater area of I-94 will begin. A thin layer of asphalt will be put down to fill in imperfections in the road surface, and to preserve pavement life. Drivers should watch for lane shifts and single-lane traffic. |

Wright County Man Recovering From Knifing Incident
A local man is recovering in a Twin Cities hospital after being stabbed in a bar fight over the weekend. Wright County Sheriff Gary Miller reports that the incident happened shortly after midnight early Sunday morning.
Deputies were called to the Spectators Bar in Albertville where two men had been fighting. Officials say that bar patrons told them that 39-year-old Dean Peckham of Otsego, and 32-year-old David Scherr of Albertville had argued earlier in the evening at the bar. The confrontation then continued outside when Scherr allegedly scratched the side of Peckham's vehicle with a sharp object while he was attempting to leave. Peckham then got back out of the car as the argument escalated. Scherr then allegedly stabbed Peckham in the abdomen. Witnesses restrained Scherr until deputies arrived. No one else was involved in, or hurt in the incident. Peckham was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids for treatment of his injuries, which are not considered to be life threatening. Scherr was booked into the Wright County Jail on probable cause 1st Degree Assault charges pending a first court appearance. |

14-Year-Old Stabbing, Carjacking Suspect Still at Large
Authorities in Stearns County continue the search for a 14-year-old boy from Sauk Centre who is wanted in connection with a stabbing and car-jacking earlier this week. 14-year-old Christopher Hinnenkamp is accused of attacking a woman while she was giving him a ride home in her pickup. The boy allegedly stabbed 35-year-old Shannon Olson without provocation. The woman is now recovering at St. Cloud Hospital. Her 5-year-old son who was riding in the rear seat of the pickup reportedly saw his mother being attacked, but was dropped off unharmed near the Sauk Centre City Hall shortly after the incident. Christopher Hinnenkamp's parents say their son suffers from depression. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds, with blue eyes and short, sandy colored hair. Big Lake Teen Drowns While Fishing
A Big Lake boy drowned Tuesday night in an apparent mishap while fishing in an area lake. Big Lake Police say 13-year-old Chad Judge was fishing with friends along the shore of Lake Mitchell, just north of Big Lake when a lure got stuck in some weeds. The boy apparently was trying to free the lure when he became caught underwater. Police believe the teen either became entangled in the weeds, or was caught in water that was deeper than he thought and may have panicked. The boy was reportedly trapped underwater for 5 to 7 minutes. Once freed, Judge was taken to the Monticello-Big Lake Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities continue to investigate the incident. |
