Montrose is a community rich in history and poised for an exciting future.  Incorporated in 1881, Montrose was a pretty, little village with a population of 400. Today, Montrose is a growing community of nearly 1,200 and looking forward to an exciting 21st century.

Located in Wright County and only 25 miles west of the Twin Cities, Montrose is situated perfectly ­ close enough for easy access to the metropolitan area, yet removed from the hubbub of large city life.  Surrounded by many lakes, parks and wildlife areas, Montrose offers residents and visitors many recreational choices.

The picture we have painted for our future begins with orderly growth, incorporating a balance of homes, businesses, schools, churches, and recreational areas in our vision. The outcome of careful planning will be a well-designed community for all of its residents.

There is a variety of housing choices in Montrose. Northridge and Pheasant Hills are the newest additions to Montrose.  You will find well-lit walking paths, parks, single-family homes and town houses. Metro phone service, natural gas, cable television and Internet access are also available in Montrose.

The business district is expanding with the opening of Lemmerman Industrial Park. Along with an industrial park, Montrose is the home of Eden Electronics, Montrose Elementary School, the Bayrischer Hof restaurant, and many other fine establishments.

The Montrose-Waverly Chamber of Commerce is proud to include many of these businesses as members.  The local government provides many services for the community.

Working together, the city council and staff strive to provide a positive environment to conduct business, a safe environment to raise families, and a pro-active environment to encourage and maintain growth.
